Object history The sarcophagus was acquired by Hermann Göring in 1942 from the Roman art dealer Ugo Jandolo, and formed part of the collection at Carinhall, Göring's estate in the forest northeast of Berlin. After the war it was retrieved from the ruins of the estate and it is now the property of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland, on permanent loan to the Berlin Antikensammlung.
