Vulnerabilities in systems, including computer security and cryptography, are never disguised for long by trying to keep the vulnerabilities secret. A popular theory in computing is that publicizing vulnerabilities is a positive thing for the community at large, as the actors responsible for the vulnerabilities are goaded into action. Hence, in the end, it is probably not disruptive to suggest clever ways of disrupting Wikipedia.
Counterpoint to the counterpoint[edit]
In computer systems, the actors responsible for keeping the security only have to figure out how to prevent it, and then program the solution once. Until social engineering or artificial intelligence is advanced enough, we Wikipedians have to deal with disruptions by hand, and one by one, very much like the mother of the little child. And that wastes human hours, our hours, which are far more expensive and important than computer cycles.
Vulnerabilities of a social system as massive as Wikipedia are very well obscured by the immaturity of science for such systems. For now, at least.
