Florence A. Smith Elementary School #2[edit]
Florence A. Smith Elementary School No. 2 is an elementary school in Oceanside, NY.
It is located on Terrell Avenue, which is named after Oscar Terrell, an ancestor of a predominate farming family in Oceanside. [1]
In 1920, Oceansides' population began to grow. As a result, the Oceanside Board of Education decided to erect a new school. On May 27, 1921, the school burnt down, and in 1922 students returned. Not long after, a new building was erected, this time fire proof, in the same spot in September of 1923.[1]
