Dead Rock is an academy where denizens of the demon world are trained to conquer the human world as demon rulers. Yakuto, a demon boy with the root (祖, rūtsu, lit. "ancestry") of a black dragon, is one of seven applicants who survive the school's deadly special entrance exam into Class 1-F. On his first day of class, Yakuto brutally murders his homeroom teacher and reveals his ambition to kill God, a supreme evil being who serves as Dead Rock's principal.
Yakuto is a young Dragon Root (竜祖, Doragon Rūtsu) demon who can transform into a black dragon. Presenting himself as timid and mild-mannered, he is actually a cruel and ambitious boy who aims to kill God.
Frey (フレイ, Furei)
Frey is a combat-loving Ifrit Root who controls fire. She enrolls in Dead Rock to surpass her older sister, who failed to graduate.
Raizen (ライゼン)
Raizen is a young Orochi Root swordsman whose greatsword, "Princess", is his most cherished possession.
Hien (ヒエン)
Hien is a Fenrir Root with ice powers that freeze anything he cuts with his katana. He aims to free his home from an eternal winter he is wrongly blamed for causing.
Hani, a Thor Root, is a living haniwa giant who changes size and wields a hammer imbued with lightning. He is observant and analytical, and dreams of studying humans rather than conquering them.
Zelecia (ゼレシア, Zereshia) / Chako (チャコ)
Zelecia is a cat-eared Black Wizard Root and black magic user. Her alternate identity, Chako, is a talking demon crow with a Yatagarasu root.
