Awkward Zombie is a webcomic focused on video games, written and illustrated by Katie Tiedrich. The comic debuted in September 2006, and focuses on video gaming. Lacking a set cast of characters, it instead focuses on in-game scenarios of a wide variety of games, while occasionally being about something personal to the author.[1]

The author of Awkward Zombie is Katie Tiedrich, who studies mechanical engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology.[2]

Notable strips[edit]

  • "The Pokemon Effect" shows kids in grade school playing Pokémon, someone in highschool getting joked at for playing Pokémon, and then kids in college playing Pokémon. It was voted as the best webcomic-strip of the week by Joystiq.[4]
  • "Vwingtone" shows the writer's in-comic persona with a Metal Gear Solid ringtone. It was voted as the best webcomic-strip of the week by Joystiq.[5]
  • "Beating the System" shows a scene from the Metal Gear series, where the soldiers are only able to defeat the enemy because one of them jailbreaked his gun. It was voted as the best webcomic-strip of the week by Joystiq.[6]
