The result of the move request was: move The Taxman to Taxman (disambiguation), redirect Tax man to tax collector, no consensus on the song move, but I'll set up a test redirect for measurement. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:51, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WP:ASTONISH, no clear primary topic, while the song does get the most views, the occupation does get 3,822 (compared to the song's 4,625). The film gets 163 and the performer gets 38 views from the redirect and a for the The Taxman (performer) redirect and 5,533 for the Kottonmouth Kings title and Christian Whitehead gets 1,725[[1]]. Although Google is mixed but Images and Books appear to mainly show the occupation. The occupation is likely primary if anything by PT#2. I retargeted Tax man to the occupation but maybe the song could be primary for "Tax Man" per WP:DIFFCAPS. Per WP:DABNAME the DAB page doesn't need to include the definite article since all but Kottonmouth Kings don't use the "The". Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:07, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

– I came across this again when looking at the Tier 3 RM last October. A WP:DABTEST was set up as a result of the RM last year and it can be seen that the Taxman (occupation) link got 30 views compared with 5,341 for the song article. Given around maybe 95% of readers get to the article they want the 1st time from Google and links its quite possible more than 10% of readers wanted the occupation alone. Although I have clicked on the hatnote several times in the past I haven't used it in months therefore none of those 30 views were from me however its possible on the other hand readers wanting the song clicked the hatnote out of interest though some readers looking for the occupation or other uses may have given up. Among topics with the exact title "Taxman" the views are 5,341 for the song, 602 for the film and 155[[2]] for the video game meaning the domination there is just above 1 to 7. When you look at the other uses you get a negative number. I'd also point out the the other Wikipedias that have a DAB have the DAB at the basename namely It, Nl and Sk. • Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 00:41, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The Beatles song averages 220 views per day vs 95 for tax collector. Only 2% of readers click on either of the 2 hatnotes. Even if 10% or 20% of readers really wanted the tax collector article, why would we inconvenience the large majority when the minority just need to click through a hatnote. • Support. No clear primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:26, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. If we're going to use the dabtest for the basis for the move, can someone actually link to the relevant data. The mass views links (such as the one in the nom) are utterly useless. Calidum 15:31, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Calidum: Here[[3]]. I linked to massviews because there are other topics (and different views) such as the film's higher views relative to the song compared to the previous RM. But the massviews does include the song and the Taxman (occupation) redirect. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:38, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose then. The song is the primary topic and the page views prove it. Calidum 20:20, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Station1. The song is the primary topic. --The Tips of Apmh 16:10, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. I would think that the clear primary topic of the term by historical importance would be Tax collector, everything else being derived from that. Disambiguation is the next best solution. BD2412 T 21:45, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
