Untitled[edit]

D6970 | 37270 | 37409 Loch Awe, has been renamed as Lord Hinton, this took place at the DRS TMD Gresty Road, CREWE, last year (2011) when DRS held it's Open Day. Merging[edit]

I am in the process of merging these two pages via User:Murgatroyd49/sandbox2. I am intending to repeat the format of List of British Rail Class 47 locomotives. It will take a while so could I ask interested editors to hold off adding (or deleting material) directly but pass it to me for incorporation in the new version. Name references[edit]

Why is this Class 37 fleet list factually incorrect?[edit]

I don't have an issue with the list being woefully outdated. That is nobody's fault. But there are some serious factual errors here, specifically when it comes "scrapped" locos. Apparently, 37607 is scrapped, but I was on it last month!

If I knew Wikipedia well enough to make these changes, without getting reverted for a lack of references (other than my own private photography), I would be happy to help. DAB (talk) 17:50, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

When the British Rail Class 37 Fleet List was merged there were several with a grey background for "scrapped" but had "?" or "Preserved?" in the status column - according to class37.co.uk some were scrapped but there were a few possible exceptions. According to the workings pages 37607 and preserved(https://www.svrwiki.com/BR_Class_37_37688_Great_Rocks) 37688 have been in use this year, the last record of 37604 was last April (possibly stored), 37042 awaiting restoration (http://www.evr-cumbria.org.uk/motivepower.htm#37042, https://www.flickr.com/photos/188249803@N06/51247630585/ in 2021), 37037 preserved and was in use but now under restoration (https://www.southdevonrailway.co.uk/rolling-stock/locomotives/d6737-english-electric-type-3-br-class-37-37-037/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/115415956@N06/52304929912/ in 2022). There was also 37605, now scrapped according to Wikipedia - I couldn't find anything to say it has been scrapped but there is https://www.pressreader.com/uk/railways-illustrated/20220705/282007561084634 so it seems likely. The problem I had, when carrying out the merger, was finding reliable sources. Many of them, like class37.co.uk are WP:SPS or WP:UGC. Apologies, I was taking a break from my laptop over the long weekend...
I can answer for refurbished 37s (/4 subclass onwards). 37405, 607, 610, 612 are owned by HNRC and leased to Colas. Owned by DRS is 37401, 402 (for sale), 407, 419, 422, 423, 424, 425, 716. Owned by LSL is 37409, 667 and they also operate 688 from time-to-time. Owned by Steve Beniston is 37418 and 508 (former 606). WCRC also owns various 37/5s and 37/7s in operational and non-operational condition.
