"Grandson for President" is a song by American rapper King Von, that was released on April 29, 2020, and later accorpated as a single to his first posthumous and second studio album What It Means to Be King that was released on March 4, 2022.[1][2][3]
Background[edit]
The song was Bennett's first new release since Levon James mixtape, a Billboard 200-charting previous project, which dropped in March 2020.[4] King Von announced the song on Instagram and released it on May 14, 2020, with an associated music video on YouTube.[5][6]
Composition[edit]
"Grandson for President" is a remix of Crime Mob’s classic "Knuck If You Buck", with the instrumental that was produced by Chopsquad DJ that sampled the signature percussion and single-note melodies of the original song that dates back to June 29, 2004. Von dials up a snappish flow with vicious bars for a fiery verse, talking about his status in Chicago and mentioning his neighborhood O-Block.[4][7][8]
Music video[edit]
In the music video, Bennett kicks back in his Atlanta mansion, rocking his O-Block chain, with the camera shot that follows his every move. It was directed by DrewFilmedIt.[4] Coinciding with the release date of What It Means to Be King an official visualizer for the song was released on YouTube, in parallel with the release on other streaming platforms.
