Site of ditching[edit]

If you take a minute to look deeper many maps are just plain wrong. According to Camera 7 from the deck of the USS Intrepid Air Sea and Space museum you can SEE that the plane landed about in line with 47th street which is UP STREAM OF THE LINCOLN TUNNEL. It is also 6.5 MILES from the George Washington bridge (good landing, but come on). I'm more curious as to WHO was on the flight and where they were going. Just in case this was orchestrated to prevent a certain someone from reaching their destination or to create yet another crash in Manhattan. Honestly I don't think that it was anything but an accident with geese, but we get treated like mushrooms too often anymore. I'm sure that when Bush can boast that we have been terrorist free, that is a cover up of things that HAVE HAPPENED since he has been at the reins. Now think about how pissed we would be if we found out that lots of terrorist attacks have taken place, just covered up, blamed on salmonella or e-coli, bad bridges, etcetera.

I have read and heard news reports that said the plane ditched in the Hudson River near the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, which is located at Pier 86, near 12th Avenue and West 46th Street. I recommend adding the George Washington Bridge. It was the principal obstruction on the aircraft's flight path downriver. I also recommend greater precision in the lat and long data, and in the times along the flight path. The NTSB has released a time line down to the second. Can you provide a reference on the NTSB to-the-second timeline? Also, I have made a 3D plot of what data we have now, and added it in the form of a video on the Flight 1549 Page. 23:02, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

I also have a problem with the map for the some of the same reasons. The line that has been added to the map is still too far south. The plane was already in the water by the time it had reached the intrepid location at pier 86. One eyewitness report (NY1 news) has it as far north as pier 96. I am also recalling MSNBC coverage from one of their buildings that had impact point around 57th-56th streets. This would place the line closer to the south end of Central Park.
I also have a problem with the FlightData data for the tracking of the flight. The graphic has the times for events in places where the event could not have taken place. I prefer to use passive data aquired from the flight transponder by a radio system at the airport. This company has such a system set up at La Guardia [1]. The take off time and in flight times seem to be much more acurate, and you can see why there is the jog in the flight path before sully moves out over the river.Rjhawkin (talk) 05:58, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
