Deposits on electrode[edit]

Does anybody know what the deposits on the black electrode are? --EbedYahweh (talk) 00:34, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I assume it's a blob of copper that's being formed
Cu2+ - 2e = Cu
I think that while the CuSO4 concentration is low, then the cathode will tend to gas off hydrogen, as the concentration rises then some copper gets deposited. ISTR that theoretical ideas of what should be reacting at the electrodes only work for very low concentrations (long time since I did electrochemistry). Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:44, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
