Wikipedia: With respect, I find this process - namely the user interface - very confusing. I wish Wikipedia would make this a lot easier. I could not find a way to simply modify the choice I made for fair use to some kind of 'free use.' It seems I must contest this or have the file deleted, then re-upload the picture and document files staring the process all over again.

I created the photograph and text myself, and in part, used copyrighted photos from publicly available marketing/sales brochures to clearly exhibit to the reader the text on the article page.

In the upload bullet-style options, it states that if the uploaded content contains a photo from a copyrighted source, it may fall under fair-use. Then I receive a message stating that it is not fair use because the picture may be available from another source, which I credit and acknowledge. In fact, when speaking to Sony management, they tell me they are proud to have pictures in their copyrighted marketing brochures shown for their engineering accomplishments - to further cement their legacy. Yet the picture is from a sales brochure that has a copyright symbol and notice on it, so I must submit it as such.

As I understand it from my Hollywood entertainment attorney - the respected Michael Donaldson who has penned books on copyright and fair use - that the educational, news and information I have authored and contributed to Wikipedia allows me to use freely available marketing/publicity photos from Sony in a limited, not-for-profit manner to assist in explaining the evolution of technology.

I have no problem with Wikipedia questioning and inquiring on uploaded material. It is just frustrating that the messaging, instructions, links, direction to copy and paste code into other sections without deleting tags (???) is so confusing to the laymen who does not have an IT/HTML degree.

I will re-attempt the same picture and document and select your other option(s), but I believe you clearly state that if my document contains a borrowed copyrighted photo that it must be indicated as fair-use.
