This map in inaccurate - Ron Paul won the Virgin Islands 94.193.234.10 (talk) 12:40, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So the question becomes, how is this map filled in? Is it based on popular vote (where Paul won the USVI) or is it based on delegate distribution (where Paul would then be the winner in Maine as well as other caucus states)? --67.248.246.4 (talk) 17:28, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Paul did not win the most delegates in Maine. The winner of the overall primary is based on delegates, so surely the winner of individual states should be based on delegates. The popular vote effectively means nothing, it's just a nice little tool, the winner of a state should be based on delegates as this is a primary based on delegates not popular vote. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.173.65.109 (talk) 02:55, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Coloring the map on the basis of delegates rather than the popular vote is in contradiction to the way mainstream media uses maps and it would also be in contradiction with Wikipedia maps of all previous primary cycles. Since no one have won any delegates in Maine or Iowa or a handfull of similare states yet they shouldnt be colored at all if it went by delegates. And that would not give an accurate picture of the state of ther race. Jack Bornholm (talk) 12:40, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Missouri[edit]

How do we count states carried or won?[edit]

This is important conserning Colorado (Romney plurality of delegates) and Minnesota (Paul plurality of delegates) both counted right now as Santorum wins. I think another issue is Louisiana where Santorum won the primaries, yet Paul won the caucuses. I think perhaps making it striped between their two colours would be the way to go personally. 81.98.167.142 (talk) 23:22, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
