File talk:Raspberry pi logo.png[edit]

Moved from File talk:Raspberry pi logo.png

Contested deletion[edit]

This file should not be speedy deleted as redundant, because... (your reason here) (My reason here?) The .svg file does not seem to exist, and this png is being used on the Raspberry PI wikipedia page. --58.106.49.117 (talk) 15:36, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Permission Requested[edit]

I have a request in to the Raspberry Pi Foundation that they release this image under CC BY-SA. I will report back here when I get an answer. --Guy Macon (talk) 18:02, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They never replied. If anyone has contacts with the foundation, please make the same request and post the answer here. Thanks! --Guy Macon (talk) 20:39, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This file should not be speedy deleted as redundant, because... (right now there appears to be an ongoing dispute about whether to use Raspberry Pi Logo.svg or Raspberry pi logo.png on Raspberry Pi. That dispute should be resolved before either image is deleted. --Guy Macon (talk) 18:08, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Are the origins of the SVG file stated? And how about including {{SVG-Res}}, in conjunction with an acceptable default rendering resolution? --Trevj (talk) 19:39, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I can't tell because Raspberry Pi Logo.svg was deleted before I got here. Until I opposed it, Raspberry pi logo.png was nominated for a speedy deletion on the grounds of Raspberry Pi Logo.svg existing ( https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Raspberry_pi_logo.png&oldid=455880545 ) even though it doesn't exist. It looks to me as if the editors who are disputing about which image to use on Raspberry Pi decided to delete the others preferred image, and one of them won the race. Such disputes should be resolved on the talk page, not by competing image deletions. Guy Macon (talk) 21:02, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I saw the SVG file (before it was deleted) and ISTR the stated source was the same as the PNG version. IMO it really doesn't matter which logo is used. In fact, the SVG is preferable, if its inclusion can be justified. --Trevj (talk) 07:28, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
SVG is available here. But, I think resolution shouldn't matter for SVG. Or do you have any other comments? DarkSTALKER (talk) 12:23, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. For the info. That's why I suggested use of {{SVG-Res}} above. If the default resolution were to be reduced, I don't see why the file can't be used. --Trevj (talk) 12:45, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Both files are acceptable, but the svg version only with the {{SVG-Res}} tag. feydey (talk) 13:07, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This image may not be deleted under speedy criterion F1: it's only for cases in which both images are the same filetype, and File:Raspberry Pi Logo.svg is not the same filetype — see our articles on .svg and .png. Nyttend (talk) 12:15, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's now F5, with the SVG version now being used in the article. That just about tidies up this confusion... but I think it would be advisable for someone to please reduce the default SVG resolution. -- Trevj (talk) 12:55, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
