Enemy[edit]

The information about the 1971 Earth Poster as the first publication of the famous "We have met the enemy and he is us" isn't correct. I have in hand "The Impollutable Pogo", publication date 1970, with a strip date of 8-8 i.e., August 8th. It is a safe inference that this refers to a scheduled publication date of Aug 8, 1969 rather than August 1970.

The quote appears in the final panel of the book, on page 128. Albert Alligator has just flicked away his cigar butt, saying "All them characters what dumps anything anywhere... They is enemies of the people!" Pogo, looking at the butt just landed in the lemonade tub, exclaims "Albert!" as Porky Pine, raising a mug in a toast, declaims "We have met the enemy and he is us."
