Problems with the file page[edit]
@Sirjohnperrot:, there are several issues with this upload.
- You assigned the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License, whereas the source of the image has the Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 Generic license (click on 'Creative Commons Licence' on the Geograph page). This has legal implications so I have fixed it.
- It is unclear when the map was created, so there is a chance that it is not out of copyright. With things such as maps we must respect the copyright on the object pictured as well as the photographer's copyright.
- You have not clearly indicated the source URL on the file page, although it is indicated in the file history comment
- You have uploaded the version of the image with an overlay stamp (presumably from here). The unstamped version from the same page is much to be preferred.
- Your use of the <ref></ref> syntax on a file page is unconventional and confusing.
- It would have been preferable to upload this file to Wikimedia Commons instead of to English Wikipedia, as this would allow other Wikipedia languages to use it. You can upload files to Commons by clicking on the Upload file link at the left of most Commons pages. For Geograph images you can also use the geograph2commons tool which automates some of the steps.

- I know you know and it is much appreciated. I tried to use the commons uploader and registered with Geograph in order to do so but the tool wouldn't recognise my log in. As mentioned earlier elsewhere I also wanted to insert a cropped image and followed the site instructions on selection, downloading and replacing the stamp on the result - with the mistakes you have now identified. The unconventional syntax has been removed but an unstamped image does not seem to be currently available as a replacement. Your guidance in seeking a suitable new version of similar or higher resolution would of course be invaluable. Hugdon map was assessed as twentieth century by the county archivist in 1966 and probably dates to around 1906 as with the other plans. Mrs Starke is the only name which suggests it is based on the 1858 Corporation map. Sirjohnperrot (talk) 22:38, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

Can you establish if it still is? The strips shown in the map are clearly visible with Google Satellite View.[1] We could add something on this to the article. The following looks like good source, but it is paywalled. If you don't have access to Jstor you may be able to get it through The Wikipedia Library.
