To clarify the source of the photo of Eva Cassidy, it was taken in 1988 as part of a series of publicity shots for a long-defunct Maryland band called "She's Melting." The name of the photographer is unknown. The only known print was a poor one, and a graphic designer spent a fair amount of time "cleaning it up" for use on the Eva Cassidy Web Site (evacassidy.org), where the caption states that the webmaster has tried and failed to discover who took the photo. In other words, it is an "orphan work." Copyright law does not address the "fair use" status of such.
