This image is really useful, but the map used as its basis isn't historically accurate. For example, many of the the territories in the West weren't divided into smaller territories and then states until later. so to use the borders of the Dakotas, Idaho, and so on, according to their present borders with county lines isn't correct. I would try to fix it with a new map but don't have the skills. Just wanted to flag this for future revisions. Thanks. Longplayrecords (talk) 06:56, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]


  • I believe this map should be recreated. Its creator states that it is a "map of counties covered and not covered by the Emancipation Proclamation." However, many of the counties shown on this map did not exist in the 1860's. Please recreate with more accurate borders. BucsWeb (talk) 11:06, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
