What the heck is that line from Alaska to Washington State? --Descendall 06:42, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

its showing that Alaska is part of the US.

So then why isn't there a line from France to any of the islands that France owns, for example? --Descendall 14:58, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The map is based on WP:MAP's Image:BlankMap-World-v5.png. - SpLoT (*C*+u+g) 08:03, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

next question. Wouldnt the Pride's Purge be a succesfull coup in the UK? --Prunetucky 14:21, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not too sure. - SpLoT (*C*+u+g) 08:03, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Light greens[edit]

I don't want to sound demeaning but those two bright shades of light green (assuming there are indeed two shades of light green featured on this map) are too similar. I can't even tell them apart. Why not try replacing one of them with something like yellow-green? Faustus Tacitus 23:10, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Red, orange and yellow. - SpLoT (*C*+u+g) 08:03, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

States, Nations, etc.[edit]

Shouldn't the individual states of the USA be shown? I ask because the bullets in the legend say "states" and I doubt every state in the USA have been threated by a coup d'état. And what about territories such as Puerto Rico? It isn't a state, yet it isn't a nation Faustus Tacitus 23:25, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Original research[edit]

Unless a reliable and verifiable source is given.Ultramarine 15:03, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources. Don't expect all map information to be from one source, like your other maps. - SpLoT (*C*+u+g) 07:40, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see none at all. This seems to be personal opinions.Ultramarine 13:48, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please assume good faith before accusing me of anything. I have no intention of inserting POV images into articles. Please discuss first, and try to understand the context of the entire map issue. I appreciate your understanding in this matter. - SpLoT // 14:04, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please follow Wikipedia:Reliable sources, Wikipedia:Verifiability, and Wikipedia:No original research.Ultramarine 14:08, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In the process of doing so. Please realize that there are over 100 territories which require citation. - SpLoT // 14:25, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You really need a single source listing coup d'etats using a single definition. If quoting a hundred different sources then the authors will use different definitions of coup d'etat and you cannot combine them. An original synthesis is also original research.Ultramarine 14:35, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(reset indent) I realize the points raised by Ultramarine are significant and relevant to the map and the entire article. However, I disagree that this is a violation of WP:NOR, but concede that the map can bring in complex WP:V issues due to the sheer number of sources used, which inevitably causes slight to moderate WP:BIAS in the map since multiple sources have differing definitions of a coup. Until a single WP:RS which summarizes worldwide coups is found, I recognise the fact that the information presented in the map is impossible to conclusively verify en masse, and retract all usage of the map on all mainspace articles. Thanks for all your support and criticism; I've certainly brushed up on my policy knowledge during this discussion. - SpLoT // 15:42, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
