Image Deletion[edit]

The new version of the image is a different file from a different source that shouldn't be deleted. The source for the previous file no longer exits. The article does mention what's in the image. Sonic100jam (talk) 01:50, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The source is not the issue. The image does not add anything to the article, aside from decoration. The fair use rationale says that it should be included in the article because “The gameplay section.” I don’t see anything in the gameplay section that warrants a need for this image. Pbrks (talk) 02:02, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The image also depicts the Nassau Station mentioned in the article. Sonic100jam (talk) 02:09, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, but how does this image significantly help reader’s understanding of the article? How would omission of this image significantly reduce the reader’s ability to understand the context? This is the issue that needs to be addressed. Pbrks (talk) 02:23, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The fair use rationale now says "The character section. To give readers an example of the characters featured in the game." Sonic100jam (talk) 02:26, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Showing two of the 22 possible characters would hardly be considered "significant" in helping the reader understand. Pbrks (talk) 03:02, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It still gives readers an idea of what characters are featured in the game, what the game looks like, and what the Nassau stage looks like. . This image is good enough. There's no such thing as a perfect image. Sonic100jam (talk) 09:22, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As a quick reminder WP:NFCCP#8: Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Bulleting each of your points:
  • an idea of what characters are featured does not hold up. If the goal is to show the characters, then an image similar to this is more approprpriate.
  • what the game looks like in what sense? The article doesn't talk about "what the game looks like."
  • what Nassau stage looks like. This is not mentioned anywhere in the image or caption, and knowing what this specific stage looks like does not significantly increase readers' understanding of the article.
  • This is also an example of the game's Time Attack Mode How is the reader supposed to know that it is time attack mode? That's not mentioned anywhere in the caption or image page.
It needs to be clear on the images description page and in the article what you are trying to show with this image. Pbrks (talk) 16:25, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But what if an image that shows more than 2 characters can't be found? An image that shows at least 2 characters is good enough. Sonic100jam (talk) 17:55, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If it can't be found, then it can't be found. But that doesn't change the fact that having this image, with the intent "to give readers an example of the characters" and only showing two of the 22 characters, does not significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic.
