Questions asked in RPP[edit]

@JamesBWatson: Hi.

I am writing this to answer a couple of questions you asked in WP:RPP.

  1. How do I know it is the same troll. Several things.
    1. First and foremost, the geolocation data. Check his IP. It comes from the same location.
    2. Second, invoking and abusing the verifiability is his favorite, to the point that inserting {{Citation needed}} is one of his past time. I think he inserted one in your user page too, right? (Or am I wrong?)
    3. Next, his reluctance in calling assistance. Other people talk, or at least insult. They seek admin assistance much sooner. He never does, because he has pissed off many admins like yourself. (Remember the time when User:FleetCommand came to your user page with a congratulatory message?)
    4. Fourth, how he mimics my edit summaries.
  2. How do I know it is Windows XP? Several things. It is a duck test really. Windows XP implements Windows XP visual styles but does not implement Windows Desktop Composition, which came during the time of Windows Vista. That means a Win32 console window frame and title bar lacks visual styles and looks exactly like this shot. In Windows Vista and later, the frame would have visual styles. In Windows 2000 and Windows 9x, the three frame icons to the top right are different. Also, in Windows 9x the font is different. (Windows XP improved it a lot.) The only other possibility is Windows Server 2003, which does not have visual styles and wears the Windows 9x era frame. Can the look of Windows XP be imitated? Yes, with difficulty. Even then, the screenshot demonstrates how Windows XP looks even though it is not Windows XP.

One important point you should know: I love talking and consensus-building; it is the reason of my success here and it is what makes Wikipedia fun. I would have behaved different if anyone else, say you, had done the revert. But that's not how I must treat a troll. The way is WP:DFTT. I have tried reasoning with him in the past. He asked for source and I gave a couple. He just refuted and resorted to lying instead. Funny, I haven't seen anyone else lie in Wikipedia. That's one thing people won't do.

Best regards,

@Codename Lisa: Firstly, you say things like "the same troll" and "Check his IP. It comes from the same location", but the same troll as who, and the same location as who? I have no idea which of the many IP addresses that I've blocked over the years you are referring to. If you let me know, I can check the relevant history. Secondly, OK, so you do have good reason to believe it's XP, and thanks for explaining that, but why does it matter whether the file information page says so? @JamesBWatson:
1. I've made a list of his IPs, and I can give it to you. But here is a faster clue: User_talk:JamesBWatson/Archive_66#A_.22thank_you.22_and_an_inquiry
2. It is utterly unimportant. If it was a bona fide editor, I'd have never started reverting. But this person, would not let go. He'd continue with subsequent damaging edit. Like this: [1]. You see, the edit itself is not the problem. It is the bullying that is the problem. This person has been chasing me around Wikipedia for two years now. —Codename Lisa (talk) 14:20, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Codename Lisa: OK, thanks for the clarification. I remember that troll now that you have reminded me, but it's a mistake to assume another editor will necessarily remember everything that he or she was involved in a couple of months ago. I have changed the page protection to semi-protection. I've also placed a short IP range block, which won't stop the troll, but it may perhaps hinder him or her, and slow the vandalism down a bit.
