Nederlands: Op de Markt in Waregem wint Maurice Desimpelaere de tweede etappe van Dwars door België 1946. Hij wordt meteen ook eindwinnaar. Voor het tweedaagse concept inspireerde het bestuur van Waregem Vooruit zich volgens een wedstrijdbrochure uit die periode op de tweedaagse rittenkoers Parijs – Saint-Etienne. Deze Franse wedstrijd werd verreden tussen 1921 en 1962, weliswaar met de nodige onderbrekingen. Renners legden de afstand tussen Parijs en Saint-Etienne ─ in vogelvlucht zo’n 460 kilometer ─ af in twee dagen en hielden halt in Nevers of Vichy. |
