Summary[edit]

Media data and Non-free use rationale
Description This is the logo initially used by "Z-93" (WGTZ-FM), a pop music radio station which operated in the Dayton metropolitan area from March 1984 through October 2007. The Wikipedia article on WGTZ devotes significant copy to the station's "Z-93" era, so the logo serves to represent and illustrate the topic of the article.

unknown; possibly Main Line Broadcasting
Source (WP:NFCC#4) free bumper sticker distributed by the company in late 1984/early 1985
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) WGTZ
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) This logo will be used to illustrate and represent the station itself in the section of the article where the station's history is covered—not necessarily at the top of the page, where the station's current branding is used in an infobox.
Not replaceable with
free media because
(WP:NFCC#1)
Since an unofficial logo would not be an accurate representation of the station's historical branding, this official logo cannot be replaced by any other, free illustration that might yet be created.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) This is a low-resolution version of the logo, and it is cropped to ensure that no more non-free material is used than necessary.
Respect for
commercial opportunities
(WP:NFCC#2)
This historical logo is used for illustrative purposes only in discussion of the history of the radio station; as such, its use does not negatively affect the commercial interests of its owner.
Other information The owner of the logo design is unknown. The station was owned by Great Trails Broadcasting at the time the logo was in use, but the business changed hands at least twice since then, and changed formats and branding as well, so it no longer exists as "Z-93". I don't know if the current owner, Main Line Broadcasting, inherited the old Z-93 graphic design assets. This logo comes from a bumper sticker made in late 1984 or early 1985 as part of a contest, described on the sticker's backing paper. People who sent in a registration form and who were spotted with this sticker on their vehicle were eligible to win a new car. An irrelevant "Enjoy Coke" logo, adjacent to the Z-93 logo, has been cropped out of the image. In the early 1990s, the station switched to a more stylized logo in a "scrawled" script.
