Español: ESPACIO UNIVERSITARIO

El "Parque de la Universidad" o "Parque Universitario" representó el nuevo espacio que la educación superior requería en el marco del proyecto moderno de finales del s. XIX y parte del s. XX. El cual, paulatinamente, se fue adornando y modificando como sucedió en 1921 cuando al frente de la sede de la Universidad de San Marcos (sobre la cual se puede apreciar el antiguo observatorio) se construyó la "Torre del Reloj" o "Torre Alemana" (regalo de la comunidad alemana por el Centenario de la Independencia del Perú). Pocos años después se agregaron monumentos conmemorando a egregios maestros sanmarquinos como Bartolomé Herrera (1922), Sebastian Lorente (1924) e Hipólito Unanue (1931), además de espacios abiertos para el solaz de estudiantes y transeúntes.
