| Description | This is the Swedish cover art for the album The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society by the artist the Kinks, originally intended for release in the UK. The cover art copyright is believed to belong to the label, Pye Records, or one of the photo session's photographers, either Barry Wentzell or John Prosser. Author Andy Miller confirms that this edition was originally intended for release in the UK: "Pye advertisements appeared in the pop papers showing a black and white cover design (reproduced in the booklet of the current British edition of the album)." (Miller 2003, p. 39). The 1998 CD remaster of Village Green includes this image within, and it appears in a Pye Records advertisement in the 28 September 1968 issue of Melody Maker magazine (p. 23). |
