Summary

Description
English: St Andrew's church. The village of Themelthorpe consists of a few farms and cottages, most situated along the main thoroughfare, called The Street. St Andrews church > 895556 - 895573 - 895575 - 895578 is set back from The Street and although it stands on an elevation it is so well concealed by the surrounding tall trees that it cannot be seen. A gated path > 895538 leads up to the church and one has to drive slowly (and to look closely) because it can easily be overlooked. St Andrew's is a 13th century building with parts of it being older than that, and despite a 19th century restoration the church has changed very little - the south porch is a later addition. There is no arch between nave and chancel and several benches have C15 poppy heads. A C16 brass is on the nave floor. The church is kept locked but a key is available on request.
