Description
English: The main entrance of the Palazzo del Podesta on Piazza dei Signori in Verona. The portal that adorns the side of the building was commissioned in 1533 by Giovanni Dolfin, to Michele Sanmicheli. The portal, which has replaced another already present (1404), recalls in its structure, the ancient Roman triumphal arches and especially the Gavi Arch. It is surmounted by the Lion of St Mark.
Français : L'entrée principale du Palazzo del Podestà sur la Piazza dei Signori à Vérone. Le portail qui orne le côté du bâtiment a été commandée en 1533 par Giovanni Dolfin, à Michele Sanmicheli. Ce portail, qui en a remplacé une autre déjà présent (1404), rappelle dans sa structure, les arcs de triomphe antiques romains et en particulier l'Arc Gavi. Il est surmonté du Lion de St Marc.
