Description
Español: El edificio que alberga el Museo del Canal Interoceánico de Panamá fue construido en 1874, como el Grand Hôtel por el alsaciano George Loew. Fue comprado posteriormente, por el Conde Ferdinand de Lesseps para instalar las oficinas de la Compañía Universal del Canal Interoceánico; funcionó aquí la Nueva Compañía del Canal y luego se vendió a Estados Unidos junto a la concesión para la construcción del Canal de Panamá. En 1915, fue comprado por el Dr. Belisario Porras, Presidente de Panamá, y se instalaron oficinas ministeriales. Fue la sede de los Correos y Telégrafos y en la entrada del edificio se aprecia los mosaicos con este nombre. En 1996, el Patronato del Museo del Canal rehabilitó el edificio para inaugurar el Museo del Canal Interoceánico de Panamá en 1997.
