Summary

Description
English: Great Bircham tower mill The tower mill at Great Bircham was built in 1846 and worked until the 1920s . The two adjoining cottages were renovated and when timber started to fall from the top, it was decided to restore the mill too. A new cap went up in 1979, followed by the sails in 1981. The interior of the mill was also restored and all the machinery and stones gathered from farm sales and other derelict mills. The mill is now fully restored and in working order and visitors can climb up to its top and go out on the fan deck. There is a tea room and gift shop, a gallery, bakery and baking shop and several paddocks grazed by horses, ponies and sheep. There is also a pen for rabbits and chickens roam about freely. One of the cottages - Humphrey Cottage - is available as a holiday let.
