English: This animation shows the first 83 iterations of a gradient descent algorithm for a 3-variable function F(X). Each arrow shows the current direction of the gradient, and each surface is an isosurface (cross-section) of F(X) at its current value. The step-length gamma is a constant 0.002. Image made with GNU OCTAVE and imagemagick.
