Purple graduated shading shows prescribed fire history in the Wawona area (inset A) and Mariposa Grove (inset B). The fire was also bounded by the 2017 South Fork wildfire along its north perimeter and historical prescribed fires along the western perimeter.

The report is titled "How forest management changed the course of the Washburn fire and the fate of Yosemite’s giant sequoias (Sequoiadendron giganteum)". Authors are Lacey E. Hankin et al.
