Summary

Description
English: Public domain photo of the front of the State of Louisiana historical marker commemorating the former, historic, African American village of Fazendeville in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, which was razed during the 1960s to facilitate the expansion of the Chalmette National Historic Park and Battlefield. Funds for the marker were provided by the St. Bernard Tourist Commission and the St. Bernard Parish Office of Tourism and Film. The marker, which is located at the national battlefield's entrance on St. Bernard Highway was dedicated in a special ceremony on April 19, 2021. (Note: Additional text related to Fazendeville's history inscribed on back of marker.)
