Summary

Description
English: Brightened image of page from Distinctieven der Beweging; uitgegeven in Opdracht van den Organisatieleider der NSB (English: "Insignia of the Movement; issued on behalf of the Leader of the National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands" )
  • A 32 pages Dutch language booklet on paramilitary distinctions, emblems, uniforms, headgear, badges, rank insignia and flags of the Dutch Nazis in the N.S.B. (Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging) and its affiliated organisations before and during World War II.
  • Weerbaarheidsafdeling (W.A., WA; "Resilience Department") was the paramilitary arm of the National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands (NSB), the fascist political party that collaborated with the German occupiers of the Netherlands during World War II. The organization, roughly equivalent to the German Sturmabteilung (SA), was founded in 1932 by Anton Mussert, co-founder of the NSB in 1931 and its leader until the end of the war. Members wore and marched in black uniforms and were thus called "blackshirts".
  • The original work is of unknown place and year of publication, but the booklet may have been published in Utrecht between 1940 and 1942.
  • Uncredited illustrator/designer. No known copyright restrictions; possibly in the public domain.
  • See parts of Distinctieven der Beweging 1931–1945 by J.M. Karsten 2006, an extended reissue of the booklet with new illustrations and comments, online at the following websites: Google Books and CMC40-45.
