English: Keith Nicholls viewing an art work. "Art needs to close the abyss between itself and science in order to regain its relevance." A work by Dr Craig Hilton: 'The Immortalisation of Billy Apple'.(2010). Somatic cells have been transformed, by a virus, into cell lines. These, formally named after Billy Apple® are now held at University of Auckland's School of Biological Sciences and the American Type Culture Collection, Virginia, a biological culture repository that helps international study in areas such as cancer research.
