Summary

Description

Jaguar Cars took over the Daimler company in 1960 and used the Daimler name as a luxury version of the Jaguar. The 1st Sovereign was the 1966 420 (a badge engineered Jaguar 420) Then the 1969-73 Sovereign XJ6 Series I, similar to the Jaguar XJ6 with the exception of its fluted grille and Daimler badging. Internally there were variations, the wood door cappings fitted to the Jaguar were deleted. Engine; 2.8 litre or the 4.2 litre The 1973-79 Series II, like the Jag, got a raised front bumper and shallower grille. The 2.8 up to 3.4 and the 1979-83 Series III got thicker bumpers, the quarter-light windows on the front doors deleted, and a revised rear roofline featuring a slightly more angular c-pillar

After 1983, the upmarket Jaguar was the Jaguar Soveriegn
