English: Offshore fishery science vessel, CCGS ALFRED NEEDLER - IMO 7907104, ON 800746, operated by the Canadian Coast Guard Service at St. John's Harbor, Newfoundland on October 8, 2017. Decommissioned in 2023.
Biographical Information: Vessel named after Alfred Walker Holinshead Needler (1906-1998), born in Huntsville, Ontario, was key in establishing research for estimating large migratory marine fish populations. He began his career with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in 1941 and eventually became Deputy Minister.
